Many schools in the Arizona area require uniforms but this can be a hindrance for low-income families. Kikstart will assist families by providing school aged children with a school uniform and a backpack with school supplies. Qualifying families are low-income based upon the information form the Department of Economic Services. Families must provide the child's last report card or proof of registration with the school prior to receipt of items.
Our after-school program is for any youth who needs assistance with their schoolwork. Through this program, we will provide tutoring, mentorship and after school activities to keep youth occupied. This program is designed for kids as 7 and as old as 17, but they must be registered in school to be eligible. The program runs Monday through Friday form 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Kikstart after-school program has a school-based atmosphere which provides care for children attending school with activities include tutoring and homework help as well as cultural, recreational and other educational activities. The after-school program promotes literacy and educational attainment through a variety of programs tailored to meet the needs of low-income children.
Kikstart created My Core Values Program so that children could explore universal core values such as trust, respect, responsibility, compassion, and patience, in a non-judgmental, participatory environment. Each weekly curriculum theme is chosen and is explored through creative activities, community service activities, recreation, parental involvement.
